Reflection- Virtual Field Trip Standard 2a

Standard 2a is "design or adapt relevant learning experiences that incorporate digital tools and resources to promote student learning and creativity". I designed a virtual field trip that required students to search the internet to find required knowledge about the water cycle. I linked my students to a number of helpful websites to aide them in finishing the worksheets that followed along with the field trip. Students were able to view interactive displays of the water cycle and used Google Earth. There were numerous links to sites that will continue to be useful tools for students throughout their education.

Reflection- Virtual Field Trip Standard 1b

I created a virtual field trip on the water cycle. After students explored every individual aspect of the water cycle, I asked them to explore water usage in the world, their town, school, and home. Nets Standard 1-B is "engage students in exploring real-world issues and solving authentic problems using digital tools and resources". By the end of my field trip students will have a better understanding of the real-world issue of water shortages. Students will also understand where water that they themselves use comes from, how to reduce water use, and will be familiar with careers related to water and water conservation.

Reflection-Google Sites and Internet Usage Policy

I created a website using Google Sites, and on this site I created my Internet usage policy for my future classroom. This project relates to NETS-T standard 4c which promotes modeling digital citizenship and responsibility. I was able to model proper internet usage and advocate for students to follow my example. On my Internet usage policy page I was able to inform students and parents about relevant information regarding laws, social rules, and warnings about using the internet. Through this task I was able to learn how to operate efficiently on Google Sites and I focused on what I find to be important in regards to ethics, rules, and concerns in regards to internet usage by my students. I wish to further develop my website to transform it into a very diverse and helpful tool for my students to use in and out of the classroom.
